EXO Insights has been selected to beta test Unity’s new application that, in their own words, “gives creators the power to build mixed reality (MR) and augmented reality (AR) applications that intelligently interact with any real-world environment, with little-to-no custom coding.”
The hardest thing about designing for the real world is that the real world changes, so how can content be designed to work seamlessly, anywhere and at any time? Unity is working on applications that are “context-aware and responsive to physical space” meaning it adapts to the environment wherever they are used. It does this by detecting planes, enabling a better understanding of the real world environment and auto-placing of objects in AR. Another benefit is that it's platform agnostic, making it easier and faster to develop across platforms. We see these features improving procedures with virtual overlays and holographic location specific information without the need for stickers, to start. Our team here at EXO is testing it on applications associated with industrial environments, specifically focused on operations and maintenance procedures.
